Fran Scully, watercolorist,
divides her time between Maine and Connecticut. She has owned the Scully Gallery in Ogunquit, Maine
since 1973 and also maintains a studio in
Suffield, Connecticut. After working in almost all painting and printing techniques,
she has found watercolor to be her favorite medium.
She studied at the University of
Hartford, Bay Path College, Asnuntuck College and with many
nationally-known artists. Fran has exhibited widely in regional,
national and solo shows and has received numerous awards. Her work is
represented in permanent public and private collections throughout the
world.
Critics
have described her watercolors as having fragility combined with a
freedom of their own. Her
gentle touch with the delicacy and freshness of flowers shown through
her watercolor paintings reveals her warm personal feeling for nature
in all forms. Fran’s
Maine paintings reveal her love of the sea and shore.
She has spent her summers in Maine since 1963. The gallery in
Maine is open from mid-May
through mid-October and she maybe contacted at her CT address or
through email during the winter months.
